Omar Hagag, Senior Product Designer, in a black turtleneck with his arms crossed

Senior Product Designer · Systems Thinker · MBChB

I diagnose complexity, then design the system forward.

I turn fragmented workflows, dense information, and competing business rules into products people can understand, trust, and use.

Built and shipped

Two I designed and built myself.

Most of my work sits behind confidentiality agreements, so this site describes it. These two do not — you can open them.

  • The Yomna site on desktop: an editorial hero reading “Before your guests read a word, your invitation opens”, with a fanned stack of invitation previews beside it and buttons to choose an opening or preview one.

    Yomna

    Live

Interactive digital wedding invitations in Arabic and English — an invitation that opens with an animation, then carries RSVP, guest lists, gallery, venue and music behind one shareable link.

Concept, product design, build and deployment — mine end to end, delivered with an AI-assisted workflow. A commercial product with paying customers, not a demo.

  • The Carekestra site on desktop: a hero reading “Care coordination, finally in sync”, beside a shift dashboard counting overdue, blocked, review and handover items above a patient list showing anaesthetic reviews and a pending handover.

    Carekestra

    In development

Care coordination for orthopaedic and trauma surgical teams. It models stage, location, urgency and blockage as separate axes, and treats handover as confirmed only when it has been received — not when it was sent.

Designing and building it myself. This is where clinical training does real work rather than decorating a bio: I have been the person reconstructing a plan from fragments at 3am.

In development and not available for clinical use. It is not clinically validated and claims no regulatory compliance. I am looking for clinicians and safety specialists to challenge the model.

Approach

Good interfaces begin with an understood system.

Before designing the screen, I map the people, rules, information, permissions, states, dependencies, and decisions shaping the product.

  1. 01

    People

Who acts, and what they are accountable for

  2. 02

    Rules

The logic the product must honour

  3. 03

    States

What changes over time, and what shows it

  4. 04

    Decisions

Where judgment happens, and who makes it

  5. 05

    Outcomes

Success, failure, and the route back

01

Product thinking

Moving a team from a request for screens to a clear product problem.

  • Problem framing
  • Journey mapping
  • Prioritisation
  • Product strategy contribution
02

Experience design

Turning complicated requirements into flows detailed enough to build.

  • Information architecture
  • Interaction design
  • Responsive mobile and web
  • Prototyping and validation
03

Systems and scale

Patterns that survive the next release, not just the current screen.

  • Design systems
  • Roles and permissions
  • State models
  • RTL and LTR
  • Multi-product consistency
04

Delivery

Staying close to implementation so intent survives handoff.

  • Engineering collaboration
  • Documentation
  • QA
  • Stakeholder alignment
  • AI-assisted workflow

Diagnose before designing

Understand the system before proposing the interface.

Design the failure path

Empty, delayed, restricted, rejected, and failed states are core product work.

Build for change

Patterns should support the next release, not only the current screen.

Stay close to implementation

Specifications, collaboration, and QA are part of the design outcome.

Experience

Six years across products that cannot afford ambiguity.

Financial journeys, real-time logistics, multi-organisation SaaS, marketplaces, and consumer products — different domains, the same need for clear systems and reliable delivery.

About

Product thinking shaped by design and medicine.

I’m a Senior Product Designer with 6+ years of experience across fintech, enterprise SaaS, logistics, marketplaces, and multi-role platforms.

My medical training taught me to listen carefully, identify underlying problems, work with uncertainty, and communicate decisions clearly. I bring that perspective to complex products without limiting my work to healthcare.
